Currently there are 900 troops at 2 different bases in Northern Iraq. 1 base is for mechanized units and another is where commandos are stationed. By next week there should be 2000 Turkish troops in Iraq to help with training local forces.

So far 2500 Peshmerga have been trained and 1250 Iraqi Arab troops have been trained. Turkey is aiming to train 14,000 troops.

Turkey will also train 2100 Turkmens so that they can take part in the operation to retake Mosul from ISIS. The Turkmens will be both Sunni and Shia.

The Iraqi government is upset by Turkeys deployment of troops saying that they don't have permission to be there.
