    Australia will increase defense spending by nearly A$30 billion ($21.6 billion) over the next 10 years, seeking to protect its strategic and trade interests in the Asia-Pacific as the United States and its allies grapple with China's rising power.

    "The United States will remain the pre-eminent global military power over the next two decades," Turnbull said. "It will continue to be Australia's most important strategic partner through our long-standing alliance, and the active presence of the United States will continue to underpin the stability of our region."

    Hmm the white paper is says that they are relying on us to provide regional security thus preventing Australia from having to deal with an threats. They plan to keep China in check via diplomatic and legal means.

    It says that they want to buy 6 more Submarines that are interoperable with US submarines, hopefully they order some from us. They want more large cargo planes and heavy lift helicopters. They want to strengthen local shipbuilding capabilities by producing patrol boats and ships.

    I really doubt that.

    -U.S. don't export submarines (and AFAIK do not plan to do so.)
    -U.S. won't sell nuclear powered submarines to any other nation.

    Bro they will probably buy German or British submarines and get US companies to install the sub systems.

    The British aren't participating in this tender,and BTW,do not export submarines as they are only producing nuclear powered submarines. :D

    The candidates for this tender are ;

    Germany with the Type 216.
    Japan with the Soryu.
    France with the SMX Ocean. (If you want,a conventional version of the Barracuda submarine.)

    This might be the case yes.
