Daesh terrorist group attacked on Tuesday an M-60 tank of Turkish Armed Forces positioned at Bashiqa Camp in Northern Iraq, where Turkey is providing training to Iraqi Peshmerga forces.

The terrorist group's rocket fire landed on the tank's tracks, causing no casualties, but leaving material damage to its periscope.

The protection forces at the camp retaliated to the attack with fire targeting Daesh positions, military sources said. During the operation, 10 Daesh terrorists at the building where the attack was launched from were killed while the building was also destroyed, the sources added. Meanwhile, 22 other terrorists, who were escaping from the area during the operation were also killed in five vehicles and three motorcycles, bringing the number of terrorists killed terrorist to 32. The sources added that the operation continues in the area.

The video of the attack is available on the internet however I will not post it as it is propaganda. A Kornet Missile was used in the attack. This shows the effectiveness of the M-60 Sabra upgrade on our tanks. I think we should upgrade more of them.

The damage to the tank doesn't look like much.

"Sabra Mk.2 is fitted with modular passive armor and explosive reactive armor. Modular armor can be easily replaced if damaged or upgraded if more advanced armor is available. This version can be identified by a large M60-style commander cupola. It is powered by a more powerful German MTU 881 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1 000 hp. The Sabra Mk.2 is in service with the Turkish Army and is locally known as the M60T;"

It looks ISIL is trying to provoke Turkey into a fight. They targeted Turkey several times this year.

There are some agreements with Iraq that allow us to keep troops there and have bases to use against the PKK. Right now we have 2000 soldiers in Iraq at several bases or camps. They are at Bamerni, Kanimasi, and Ba┼čika.

@T-123456 has more information on the agreements I think.

It may be a trap. Many countries would like to see Turkey be in a negative vulnerable situation. Our leaders have to make smart decisions. Too many games going on in the region. A wrong decision could cost billions and hundreds of lives.
