Members of the GIGN, the elite unit of the French gendarmerie, will soon be deployed in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, to deal with any "terrorist attack" in Africa, today announced Bernard Cazeneuve after the deadly attack of Grand-Bassam in Ivory Coast.

The French interior minister and the head of French diplomacy, Jean-Marc Ayrault, today went to Abidjan to witness the solidarity of France following the jihadist attack that killed 18 people, including four French,on Sunday in the resort town of Grand-Bassam. "As part of barkhane operation and following the contacts that I took with the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, we decided to deploy in Ouagadougou elements of the GIGN," said Bernard Cazeneuve.

These elements "will in the region, in case of attack, respond quickly, provide training, provide assistance in terrorism crisis circumstances," he added. Ouagadougou was the scene last January of a jihadist attack against a restaurant and a hotel that killed 30.

Why does France always go to these countries? Have they not been able to develop decent security capabilities? Why are they not able to develop any serious capabilities?

Even after leaving these countries,France always maintained very strong ties on economic, political sides. There's a strong defence cooperation with most of our former African colonies and many of them (if not all) are hosting French soldiers.
    -
These countries are being attacked because they are cooperating with us,we have to help them if they feel the need to.
    -
And it's more like because of lack of resources, equipments, proper training I bet.

I think there are a lot of fights over resources that are putting many of the African nations in a hard spot. Example: Rebel groups inside want to control diamonds, the government wants to control diamonds, other countries want access to the diamonds. Everyone fights over who gets control, an outside power backs one side to get stability to continue diamond extraction without caring for local people. Local people don't care about local people so foreign people don't care either.

I think also these countries have moved from bronze age, some even from stone age into the modern world too fast. The societies, economic structures, and political systems did not develop naturally. I have also a feeling that the Africans that study outside and go back to their country think they can be corrupt because no one is watching them and everyone else is corrupt. UN aid is also not efficiently provided, they spend billions but still there are no results. I remember when Turkey raised money for Somalia when they had a famine a few years ago and we sent humanitarian experts to help. We rebuilt mogadishu airport, roads, schools, hospitals, cleaned all of the trash in mogadishu, built a port, and brought somali students to Turkey. It was very successful but with low cost. This is because one country went in and did it by itself, these international organizations, "NGO's" don't work. They are like a body with no brain. Just pissing money away.

We are very blessed to have food everyday, have internet, TV, friends, cars, nice countries with good infrastructure.
