For simplicity sake the squad has 10 men and is a regular G.I rifle squad Lets say the gear carried by each soldier can weigh a max of 70 lbs. The unit to which the squad belongs is motorized. How would you equip your squad?

    Some existing setups:

Rifle squads will differ from branch to branch and between units in the Norwegian Army. Generally it's 4-5 rifleman, 1-2 grenadiers with rifle grenades, 1-2 light machine gunners with FN Minimi and one support gunner with an MG3 or FN Mag. As needed 1-2 members of the unit can be outfitted with the Carl Gustav or LAAW, generally sporting 2-4 LAAW launcher per unit. Marksman with HK416S or HK417 can also be added. Javelin is also an option for counter-fortification/counter-armor.

Here we see a typical rifle squad comprised of elements from Telemark Battalion, Armored Battalion and the Norwegian Army's Quick Response Force in the Netherlands for exercise Urban Viking/Urban Mink.

Here we see Engineering and 2 Battalions during exercise Sabre Strike. The rifle squad has several light machine gunners, 1 support machine gunner, 2 members with the LAAW, 1 with a Carl Gustav and several with rifle grenades.

Not shown are support elements with 12.7mm heavy machine guns, 12.7mm MØR and HK417 marksman rifles, and Javelin missiles. Also assigned to the unit is a soldier with a man-portable UAV.

This team from 2 Battalion has a similar setup as the two above with light machine gunners and rifleman, but adds Javelin to the mix. The Javelin carrying rack is an in-house special. We also see one member of the squad carrying an HK417 for squad-level marksman support. A second HK417 can be seen below the HK416 in the bottom right of the picture.

I think this provides the unit with a good mix.
