Rheinmetall upgrade for Leopard 2 - the ability to fire the Israeli LAHAT

Rheinmetall has developed an upgrade for Leopard 2 tanks to give them the ability to fire the Israeli LAHAT anti-tank guided missile through the main gun; the missile can engage targets out to a range of 6,000 metres (20,000 ft).

This is something that the Russians used as an argument against western tanks. They always bring up the gun launched missile and say that their tanks can take out NATO tanks from 6 km's away. NATO tanks are restricted to the range of their guns therefore Russia > NATO was the argument.

LAHAT's very situational, especially in parts of Europe where a horizontal strench of open space that's 6000 meters is often hard to come by. LAHAT would need to put its indirect fire maneuvering capability to good use to avoid the trees, but that would expend energy and low its effective range:

In Europe only Germany and Croatia use LAHAT, so I don't see this upgrade proliferating to the rest of the Leo force on the continent unless the upgrade can support other types of gun-fired missiles or Leopard users opt to buy LAHAT.

I could see Poland getting it but no one else in Europe or NATO except for Turkey. They will have this capability on the Altay, from there I wouldn't be surprised if they apply it to their Leopard 2 A4's.

Rheinmetall must have detected interest from someone so thats why they developed this with the Israelis.
