Hey guys, I found this place through Facebook, and liked the look of it. I'm not a member of any military, though I am in the Australian Air Force Cadets. I have massive respect for all servicemen (who wouldn't?!), and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys :)

Welcome aboard buddy, glad to have you here.

What do you plan to do after cadet school? Which air plane do you have on your mind? |Astronaut|

Hello, Australia is a friendly country so it is nice to have a friend from there.

Good to see a young cadet, I think this place will be good for your knowledge and also you can share with us.

Well, I'm not sure if I'll end up in the RAAF after I leave the AAFC. I'm not sure about other countries, but here, being in the Australian Defence Force Cadets (ADFC) isn't a sure-fire way into the military. It helps, of course, but the ADFC isn't a substitute for the actual military traning. I guess you could say it's more of a youth organisation (one with firearms training, aircraft recognition, and instructors who are active servicemen).

But being in the RAAF is something I'd like to do anyway, so if I did end up in the RAAF, my first choice would be with the fighter/attack aircraft. By the time I'd be old enough to join as a pilot, that would probably be the F/A-18 F and F-35 A. Given how much secrecy and curiosity there is about the 35, it'd be an interesting plane to fly, and to see exactly what it can do.

There are a lot of other cool plane options, you could be in an AWAC and get access to the latest intel, you could fly a C-130 and deliver aid to those in need and resupply Australian troops or drop paratroopers. After your carrier in the military you can retire and become an airline pilot.
