Islamabad: Pakistan Navy on Thursday said it conducted a successful test of a land-based anti-ship missile, bolstering the operational reach of the country’s navy to launch long-range, anti-ship missiles from land.

The trial of the missile was conducted from the coastal region and the missile secured a hit on a target placed at sea, a press release from the Navy said. The missile is equipped with advanced technology and avionics, which enable engagement of targets at sea with a high degree of accuracy, it said, without giving more details.

The test-launch was witnessed by vice chief of Naval Staff Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique and senior officers of Pakistan Navy. Admiral Saddique commended the accomplishment of the objectives of the trial, the release said.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah in his message said that the weapon system has added a new dimension to the operational reach of Pakistan Navy, allowing it to bolster seaward defences by giving the Navy the capability to launch long-range, anti-ship missiles from land.

Currently there is no name available for the missile nor any video of the test or any images of the missile but test has been confirmed by a reliable official Gov source and many other news sites including local and international site. Currently neither range nor the type is available about the test it strange Pakistani Gov has kept this missile secret but there is one thing as well that the NOTAM which was issued for this missile is still valid that means there will be more tests and then they might release info. If so I will update.

I think they call it Babur, utilizing the LACM against sea based targets this time probably.

It's not good for destroyers etc. (I'm assuming it subsonic) with well developed CIWS systems but every effective against corvettes, missile tracking ships and recovery vessels.
    Excellent!
Please post the NOTAM & NAVAREA warning, we can find out range from it.

It is not Babur missile. Babur was tested a year ago and it ship variant is also available already and has been tested. BABUR ALCM SLCM and LLCM all have been tested before and Babur was developed from tomahawk missile and it was developed long time ago not now Pakistan poses cruise missile with different role and ranges since a decade ago this one is something new one source told that missile is not detect able by RADAR and uses a homing technology advance and accurate that any other previously developed missile. so this is a carrier killer I think.
