In many militaries, including the ADF, men and women have different physical fitness standards. Should this continue, or should there only be one standard?

    Seperate Standards

    Pros:
    • More women would be able to join the military and bring their skills with them, boosting total strength.
    • There would be less pressure on the military from groups that want more women in the military.
    Cons:
    • Women, or anyone for that matter, who are less physically capable could become a burden for combat teams and in other physically challenging roles.
    • Which standard to apply to any transgender recruits would be a complex issue, and may result in bad press.
    Same Standards

    Pros:
    • All female servicemen would be guaranteed to be as physically capable as male servicemen.
    • Transgender recruits wouldn't cause issues for training staff.
    Cons:
    • Less women would be able to join the military, and their skills would not be able to be used, lowering total strength.
    • More pressure on the military from groups that want more women in the military.

I think there should be different standards to allow for more women into the military. Most of them are not in combat anyway rather they work in communications, intelligence analysis, and some office jobs. They don't have to have the same physical requirements unless they are in ground combat hence thats what I voted for.

Good thread with good options and great explanations.
