So here's the back story, I was in the army reserves in a transportation unit. I was in 3rd platoon and in 2013-14 the army decided to cut Trans units down to two platoons so they disbanded my platoon. Once this happened they gave us an option to either transfer to unit and Mos of our choice or enter the IRR. I decided to try and get deployed with my friends mp unit. I was unable to get trained and my clearance before their deployment date so I decided to go into the IRR. I have since gotten back in this past week because the VA does not consider me a veteran because I did not deploy and I did not serve for 6 years in the reserves so I do not qualify for the VA home loan. Now my question is does this also disqualify me for my gi bill? As well as my kicker? I read my contract and there is nothing in it concerning disbandment but it says if I am voluntarily or involuntarily reassigned it disqualifies me. Any input would be helpful thank you.
