New Russian ballistic missiles can penetrate US missile defense: vice premier

MOSCOW, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The newly-developed ballistic missiles of Russia can penetrate any U.S. missile shield, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said here on Sunday.

At a program on the Rossiya-1 television channel, Rogozin said Russia's nuclear deterrence forces are made up of various missiles, including the Soviet-era classical missile Voyevoda. Now Russia is developing new missiles.

According to the deputy prime minister, the U.S. missile defense system is not a threat to Russia. "We can clear this defense," he said.

I think that statement is complete BS, both countries can nuke the other. To say that the US can't defend against Russian ballistic missiles is also a joke.

We have a four tier defense system:

Ground-Based Midcourse Defense: The most complex and costly component of the U.S. missile defense system is designed to destroy intermediate- and long-range ballistic missiles in space.

Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense: Considered the most reliable component of missile defense, this traditionally sea-based system is designed to intercept short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.

Terminal High Altitude Area Defense: THAAD is a rapidly deployable, truck-mounted system capable of intercepting short- and medium-range ballistic missiles inside and just outside the atmosphere.

Patriot Advanced Capability–3: Rapidly deployable, the system is vehicle-mounted and employs sensors to track and intercept incoming missiles in their terminal phase, at lower altitudes than THAAD systems.

Rogozin is right, and you, imho, is wrong. But, of course, we'll check it soon. Our anti-ballistic defence missilles have nuclear warheads, that much better kinetic.

Rogozin is making a very bold statement when he says that US missiles can't penetrate Russian missile defenses. What super duper defense system does Russia have? They have a thick defense around Moscow including the A-135 but what about the rest of Russia?

All what I know is a rumours, nothing more. ABD is a complex thing, including different elements. First line of ABD going in your HQ, plants and info-links. Traitors, saboteurs and super-duper "Russian hackers". Second line is jamming of sensors of orientation system on the buses and warheads. Third - is jamming radioaltimeter of warheads. Then - new versions of soft for S-300 and S-400 allow them intercept warheads of ICBMs. Of course, it is not "absolute" defence. But it can stop 99,9% of ICBM's warheads.
