Back in February of last year US and British armies paraded 300 yards from the Russian border in the Estonian border city of Narva

"US army vehicles and British soldiers paraded through the streets of an Estonian city just 300 yards from the Russian border yesterday, in a display of Western unity against the encroaching threat from Moscow.

Armoured vehicles from the US Army's Second Cavalry Regiment and British troops were officially taking part in a military parade marking Estonia's Independence Day, but the choice of location was deeply symbolic.

The city of Narva sits in the easternmost part of Estonia, where the country's border juts out into Russia, and has been cited as a potential target for the Kremlin if it should turn its attention from Ukraine to the Baltic states.

A majority of the city's 60,000 residents are ethnically Russian."

The Russians obviously feel threatened but so do many countries in Eastern Europe. The baltic states, Ukraine, and Georgia don't want to be part of Russia or align with it. What can we do if former Soviet States want to join Nato?

Exactly everyone can choose to do how they wish. I dont think russia can change anyone's mind, But they do want to make sure to cut off the further advance of nato influence

I heard on RT before that the Russians had a deal with the US not to expand NATO to the east after the fall of the USSR. They also say that Ukraine or maybe it was Crimea was stolen from them. They have historical and geopolitical reasons for being proactive in Eastern Europe.

Crimea belonged to Russia before the Soviet Union was created(not talking about the Crimean Tatars who got deported after WWII and to whom it actually belongs),after the collapse of the Soviet Union,Russia ''gave'' it to Ukraine, expecting Ukraine to be aligned with Russia forever.
And yes there was a deal made between the US and Russia regarding ex-Soviet states and NATO.
Because of that deal,Georgia was not accepted to NATO,but things have changed and im sure Ukraine will enter NATO,Georgia however will not be joining because of the current government(pro Russia).

See it as the economic/military ''zone'' of Russia,it will be difficult for ex-Soviet states to decide their own fate, especially bordering Russia(small countries like the Baltic states dont matter).

In these divisions, One of the divisions will be stationed with the central group of forces, while three will be with Russia's western group of military forces.
