this is kinda off topic but I'm guessing the situation here is the same as central Asia with the Ex soviet states? Because from what I have read they partner very closely with Russia

Yes,the state heads are mostly ex-Soviet party members or military.
Despite being Turkic(most) countries, they stay close to Russia.

The Russians probably have scandal tapes on many central Asian ministers. If they don't do what they want the tapes come out. Obviously they have other information collected through their intelligence about corruption which they can use to create scandals and destabilize the government that doesn't work with them.

Will these ex-soviet states ever break away from russia? or do we have to wait till no one who was born during soviet times is left. Because my theory is that a generation that won't know what being ex-soviet was like will have to take leadership before they split

Even with a new generation,it will be difficult because there is also the Russian population in those countries, they will never turn their back on Russia.
Kazakhistan is a good example of that.
