Gakkel ridge existence and approximate location were predicted by Soviet polar explorer Yakov Yakovlevich Gakkel, and confirmed on Soviet expeditions in the Arctic around 1950. So, we have rights of discoverers.
Next - it is connected with Laptev sea rift and Russian shelf. So, may be, it is also a part of Russian shelf.
Also, Norway have a problems with oil fields, and big oil-production companies now are flew away from them. They will not work on the Gakkel ridge with Norvegians, but, may be, will work with Russians (but not with this oil prices).

Shelf is a good thing, no doubts, but what is about Alaska? For what price you can return it to us?
