The Turks could take control of the rebel held areas of their border with Syria, a joint Arab force could try to cleanse eastern Syria of ISHIT. The Saudis along with some other Arabs are conducting a military exercise called Northern Thunder. The Egyptians sent a lot of hardware to that exercise, Jordan is involved too. If anyone has been listening to Bernie Sanders King Abdullah said that he wants Muslims Troops on the ground to clear out the terrorists. All of the regional countries want their troops on the ground, the ball is in the coalition leaderships court.

One of the dynamics that complicates things in this war is its complexity, there are troops from Iran and Russia Operating in Syria if something happens where these regional countries but head with Iran and Russia the risk of a larger war is very high.

Mohsen Rezaei expressed his concern over Saudi Arabia’s intention to deploy ground troops to Syria, and predicted that in the case of confrontation between Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Syria and the US involvement, a ‘great regional war’ would be waged in the Middle East.

The official’s warning came in response to the US welcoming reaction to Saudi Arabia’s offer to send ground troops to Syria and Russia’s subsequent warning that Saudi Arabia's proposed troop deployment in Syria would be regarded as a declaration of war.

The Saudis believe that the chance of a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis is very limited," said Mustafa Alani of the independent Gulf Research Centre.

"They don't see that there is a real pressure on the regime to give major concessions... They think eventually it will have to end in the battlefield.

"Turkey is enthusiastic about this option (of ground troops) since the Russians started their air operation and tried to push Turkey outside the equation," Alani added.

He said the Saudis are serious about committing troops "as part of a coalition, especially if the Turkish forces are going to be involved".

Its coming to the point where Assad and Putin are going to finish the war on the battlefield. It looks like all negotiations are off especially since Assad has the upper hand. I remember it was only last year when Assad said the he had to let go of parts of Syria because he didn't have enough troops, now the rebels look to be doomed. They got crushed between ISIL, Assad, the Kurds, and the Russians.

If regional countries don't step in they face a massive Shia force in the region that extends from the Mediterranean to Central Asia. Will they accept this? The Turks definitely can not.

UAE says it is ready to send ground troops to Syria

"Our position throughout has been that a real campaign against [ISIL] has to include a ground force," the UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said at a news conference in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Gargash added that "US leadership on this" would also be a prerequisite for the UAE.

He did not elaborate about how many troops the UAE could send - but added: "We are not talking about thousands of troops".
