Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the French National Day, which is celebrated on 14 July each year.
In France, it is formally called La fête nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly Le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July).

The French National Day commemorates the Fête de la Fédération of 1790, which celebrated the unity of the French people one year after the Storming of the Bastille.
The main event is a grand military parade along the Champs-Élysées, attended by the President of the Republic and other political leaders on the morning of 14 july,it is the oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe.
It is accompanied by fireworks and publics dances in towns throughout the whole of France.

How do you stop a guy from running people over with a truck? You really can't. Thats the sad part of terrorism today, its very difficult to stop.

Sadly it's very difficult to prevent attacks like this, when the suspect wasn't known to have links to terror groups and was recently radicalised. Never went to jail....
This action showed that not only you can kill many with guns, but also with vehicles, and all kind of fanatics would probably use the same modus operandi...
