UKRAINE AND TURKEY LAUNCH JOINT NAVAL DRILL AMID STAND-OFFS WITH RUSSIA

    Turkish Navy Heybeliada.jpg
Ukraine and Turkey’s navies launched a joint military exercise on Monday, as Kiev and Ankara continue to grow closer in the face of their respective stand-offs with Russia.

According to a Facebook post by Ukraine’s Navy, Ukraine and Turkey sent two frigates and a degaussing vessel into the Sea of Marmara on Monday to practice tactical maneuvering, anti-aircraft combat and communication.

“In accordance with the plan for joint activities between the Ukrainian Navy and the Navy of the Republic of Turkey, joint base training to prepare Ukrainian crews at Turkey’s naval facilities is also scheduled,” the statement added.

Crimean Tatar leader says that Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine enhances ties between Kyiv and Ankara. Crimean Tatar Mejlis head and Ukraine's MP Refat Chubarov. wrote on Facebook on March 9: "A few years ago, Russian politicians were warning their Ukrainian counterparts that Turkey 'could allegedly pose' a threat to the territorial integrity of Ukraine. So far, Moscow has done everything to get Kyiv and Ankara united against their common aggressor (Russia)."

the enemy of my enemy is my friend.... Two nuteers putting heads together to cause more problems... Could we be seeing a Tirkish/Syrian front against russia at the same time we see a Ukraine/Crimea front? I think so. These cease fires are only meant to streghten positions, there is no way they are giving up on taking assad out of power yet. They want a pipe line from Saudi through Syria to turkey, to bypass russian energy to europe.

I think turkey is going to pull us deep into a quagmire syria, trying to defend Saudi. Saudi has clearly lost its mind, trying to open a new front in Syria when its getting its ass kicked in Yemen by the houthis.

What do you expect them to do? Russia took over Crimea from Ukraine and is supporting armed groups in Ukraine. Russia is operating right next to Turkey's border and violated their air space several times. You can't expect them to just sit by and do nothing. Every country has its own interests, and every country has the right to its own interests. Just because Russia isn't on the side of the "west" doesn't mean that it is right.

This will probably be a small exercise just for show, these countries will not harm Russia. Neither country benefits from bad relations with Russia.
